2 – Denver Metro

A Matter of Balance

Many older adults experience concerns about falling and restrict their activities. A MATTER OF BALANCE is an award-winning program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels.  This program is for adults aged 60 and older.

Adults Living with a Pediatric Brain Injury

This 5-session group is for adults who sustained a brain injury before the age of 21.

Art Class

Art encourages the development and healing of physical coordination, personal expression and mental outlook, and provide survivors with a social space in which to interact.

Brain Injury Basics

Brain Injury Basics is designed for adults living with a brain injury.  This workshop will cover:

  • Types of brain injury and brain anatomy
  • Brain injury facts
  • Symptoms of brain injury and symptom recognition
  • Strategies and treatment options for living with a brain injury

Cooking Matters

Cooking Matters helps families to shop for and cook healthy meals on a budget. Families learn about nutrition, and they get to cook a healthy meal or snack in each session. Participants are given cooking-related incentives throughout the class as well as fresh healthy foods to take home.

Financial Health

This course guides individuals with limited income to become more aware of the ways in which financial stress affects their overall well-being. It explores the underlying behavioral and economic issues that lead to decisions and choices that cause financial stress. This course provides the information and tools individuals need to change their behaviors to become financially stable.

Music Therapy

Music therapy is the use of music to address non-musical goals. This can vary from using music to improve speech after a stroke, to using music to help children with developmental disabilities reach their developmental milestones.

Needlework

3 – Northern Colorado

Adaptive Yoga

This specialized yoga class is adapted specifically for adults living with a brain injury in northern Colorado. Props such as chairs, bolsters, blankets, blocks, and fit balls are used to support the stability, safety, and comfort of each participant. Each class will provide the experience of various breathing techniques, mindful movement that includes both strengthening and stretching exercises, and relaxation techniques.
