We are proud to offer a variety of classes and workshops to survivors of brain injury throughout the state of Colorado.  All classes and workshops are FREE; however, registration is required.  Please contact Heather with any questions at 720-907-1455 or Heather@BIAColorado.org.

1 – Central Mountain Region

Brain Injury Basics

Brain Injury Basics is designed for adults living with a brain injury.  This workshop will cover:

    • Types of brain injury and brain anatomy
    • Brain injury facts
    • Symptoms of brain injury and symptom recognition
    • Strategies and treatment options for living with a brain injury

Art Class

Art encourages the development and healing of physical coordination, personal expression and mental outlook, and provide survivors with a social space in which to interact.

Cooking Matters for Adults

Cooking Matters helps families to shop for and cook healthy meals on a budget. Families learn about nutrition, and they get to cook a healthy meal or snack in each session. Participants are given cooking-related incentives throughout the class as well as fresh healthy foods to take home.

Grief and Loss Group

This group will provide a supportive and healing environment for survivors of brain injury to move through their grief and loss towards and active engagement in life.

Music Therapy

Music therapy is the use of music to address non-musical goals. This can vary from using music to improve speech after a stroke, to using music to help children with developmental disabilities reach their developmental milestones.

Poetry Workshop

Writing poetry can help us find our way when we are lost, and help us keep moving when we are convinced we cannot walk another step. This workshop will introduce you to “the healing art of making poems” and provide opportunities to practice the art.

Adaptive Aquatics

This class is open and inclusive to all skill and fitness levels!  Challenge and improve balance and coordination, exercise the mind and the body, and maximize muscle strength.

Adaptive Yoga

This specialized yoga class is adapted specifically for adults living with a brain injury in northern Colorado. Props such as chairs, bolsters, blankets, blocks, and fit balls are used to support the stability, safety, and comfort of each participant. Each class will provide the experience of various breathing techniques, mindful movement that includes both strengthening and stretching exercises, and relaxation techniques.
