Northern Colorado Long Term Acute Hospital

At Northern Colorado Long Term Acute Hospital, we provide long-term acute care services to patients who are recovering from serious illnesses or injuries and often require additional critical care services for medically complex conditions. We consider it a privilege to be able to offer this advanced care to the area and are honored to be a vital part of our community. At Northern Colorado Long Term Acute Hospital we provide long-term acute care services to patients who are recovering from serious illnesses or injuries. Often these individuals require additional critical care services for medically complex conditions such as trauma, brain injuries, infectious diseases, wound healing, cardiovascular disease, stroke, amputations, respiratory failure and more. Our medical professionals work as a team to provide more intensive services to our patients than what is normally provided in an acute hospital setting. Our long-term acute care team consists of physicians, nurses, therapists, specialists, pharmacists and other highly trained medical professionals. It is led by our full-time medical director. We tailor our medical services to the complex needs of our patients, creating a personalized plan of care that is guided by the patient's attending physician and coordinated with consulting specialists when necessary. Our patients receive 24-hour nursing and respiratory care services with daily physician management. Other services we provide include: Speech, memory and cognitive therapy On-Site Laboratory Services Physical therapy Occupational therapy Aquatic therapy water-based treatments Pain management Dysphagia management Ventilator weaning Wound Care In addition, we offer support groups for patients and caregivers to expand treatment and to allow those with common challenges to share experiences, explore resources, encourage one another, and to help teach each other how to best navigate their circumstances. Why Long Term Acute Care? Most people who need inpatient hospital services are admitted to an acute care hospital for a relatively short amount of time. But patients with medically complex conditions may be referred to a long-term acute care (LTACH) which is also certified as an acute hospital — for continued care beyond their original hospital stay. LTACHs specialize in treating patients who may have more than one serious condition, but who may improve with time and care and return home. Northern Colorado Long Term Acute Hospital is the first hospital in Colorado to earn The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Respiratory Failure. We are proud to be a “Center of Excellence” for all respiratory failure patients, including those who require prolonged ventilator management and weaning.

NxGenLearning.net

NxGenlearning.net is an authorized provider of the TAP-it, details at www.teachsmart.org. The TAP-it is the first adaptive interactive learning station designed to provide computer accessibility for users without the need for a keyboard and mouse. The "Touch Accessible Platform for Interactive Technology" recognizes the difference between an arm resting upon the screen and a finger or assistive device intentionally 'tapping' or performing an input on the screen. It is fully mobile and the powered height and screen angle is adjusted by a control panel mounted on the device. The TAP-it adapts to individuals with special needs to relearn cognitive skills at their own pace. It reinforces skills that can be transferred to computer-based learning applications utilizing learning software, the Internet, or communication devices. TAP-it is currently in use nationwide in rehabilitation centers supporting Traumatic Brain Injury and stroke recovery patients in their OT and PT treatment plans.
We loan TAP-it at no charge for one week to evaluate its effectiveness with your clients.

The B.O.S.S. Group

LaShay Canady is a passionate Holistic Health Practitioner (HHP) and Certified Clinician of Whole Food Nutrition (CCWFN) who has been in practice since 2007. She is the founder and president of The B.O.S.S. Group "Beauty Of a Solo Spirit" and is committed to the true function of food. Her primary goal is to support the body’s own recuperative efforts while challenging politically correct nutrition. She draws on several modalities in her practice to focus on whole system healing not just the absence of a diagnosable dysfunction. She assists her clients in achieving balanced body chemistry by addressing root causes not just masking symptoms. Just because something is COMMON doesn't make it NORMAL.

LaShay is an alum of the Metropolitan State University of Denver where she designed her own B.S. degree – Holistic Health & Wellness. She has also completed her certification process to become a Certified Clinician of Whole Food Nutrition (CCWFN) with the International Foundation for Nutrition and Health, after transferring from the Nutrition Therapy Institute. She is currently seeking her Masters in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport, CT. She also continues to attend crucial seminars, workshops and classes pertaining to chronic pain, autoimmune conditions, digestive health and the relationships to nutritional deficiencies.
