Owl Education Group

Dysexecutive Syndrome, or deficiencies in Executive Functioning Skills, are the invisible disability, often leaving children and adolescents frustrated, unmotivated, and without hope. As an Executive Functioning Coach, I work with children and adolescents on developing skills to become effective learners and provide tools for independently managing working memory, reasoning, task flexibility, problem solving, emotional/behavioral regulation, planning and execution. We don't use check lists and we don't organize your binders; clients are given intake testing in order to drive an individualized, goal based program with frequent progress monitoring. Students are observed in their school and home setting. Training occurs in an office setting, following mastery, skills are then generalized to the school and home, gradually leading to the independent execution of skills. The aim of Executive Functioning Coaching is to empower the client by providing them internalized competency in problem solving. In addition, coaching provides tools to families and school staff, in order to develop a partnership for success across settings.

As a society, I believe we've lost touch with ourselves, our dreams, and with other human beings. Therapy provides an opportunity to reconnect deeply with ourselves and others, and to heal our wounds. I am an intuitive, body-centered psychotherapist, and I'm dedicated to my own growth. Seating Dynamics

Seating Dynamics is the industry leader in creating innovative components for wheelchairs. Our products use the most advanced technology to add movement, durability, and functionality to most wheelchairs.

Dynamic seating provides movement within a wheelchair. When the client moves, the dynamic seating components move with the client, maintaining alignment with the seating system for postural support and stability. The Dynamic Rocker Back, Dynamic Footrests, and Dynamic Head Support Hardware can be used individually, or in combination, to meet an individual’s needs. Clients who extend within the seating system or seek out movement may benefit from dynamic seating.

Dynamic components absorb and diffuse force, protecting both the client from pain and injury and the wheelchair seat and frame from damage. Absorbing force may reduce muscle tone. Providing movement can increase alertness and decrease agitation. Movement can also improve function and postural control. Dynamic seating can improve quality of life for many wheelchair users and their caregivers.

Senior Living-Making the World Safer for Senior Cititizens-An Injury Prevention Guide

How to Prevent Injuries Resulting from Falls Falls are all too common among aging adults. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that among people 65 years old and older, at least one in every four falls yearly. That first fall multiplies the risk of another fall by two times. The majority of the time, seniors don’t even let their doctor know about what happened.

Website
https://www.seniorliving.org/research/injury-prevention-guide/

Senior Planning

We created an easy to use, comprehensive Medicaid long term care guide to add to your list of online resources: https://www.seniorplanning.org/long-term-care-medicaid-eligibility/.

The guide is not intended to replace the advice of a lawyer or doctor, but will hopefully educate people about the benefits that may be available to them.

After receiving numerous calls to our office from out-of-state clients, we were surprised to find out that a nationwide Medicaid guide did not exist anywhere on the web. Furthermore, states fail to update their Medicaid pages and even when they do, it is nearly impossible for someone to find what they are looking for unless they are experienced in the matter. We found the information by plowing through state legislation, calling state ombudsman offices repeatedly, and digging deep into government sites.

Each state has individual financial and medical requirements and although there are federal minimums they have to meet, depending upon where you live, there may be extra rules. Our aim in making this guide was to lay the groundwork for possible Medicaid recipients before they begin the application process. Armed with some knowledge, the application will hopefully be expedited and applicants will be more aware of whether they can qualify in the first place, before fruitlessly wasting time.

There is no charge to use the resource and a guide like this does not exist anywhere else on the web. It's been listed by the NIH on their resources page so you can rest assured it's legitimate information (http://clinicalcenter.nih.gov/wecare/resources.html).

I work with an organization called Senior Planning and we provide free assistance to seniors and their families regarding elder care and housing options. We work with memory care patients, TBI patients, and anyone else who needs long term care.

Soaring Hope Recovery

Drug Addiction Recovery in Colorado
Intensive Residential Treatment Programs
Sober Living Facility
Holistic

We utilize a wide range of therapies to speak to each client’s head and heart. We help each client understand where their addiction has embedded itself and what it takes to prevent relapse. Therapy ranges from CBT to equine. DBT to experiential. Psychodrama and conflict resolution.

We believe that to build a defense against relapse one needs to prepare their head and heart.

Scientific
We know that addiction is a disease of the brain and therefore the professionals at Soaring Hope Recovery use the best science available - Low Energy Neurofeedback (LENS) combined with amino acid therapy to repair damage from trauma and PTSD which are for many, the underlying cause of addictive behaviors.

Our staff is now working with the veteran population in the Colorado Springs area - applying the therapies mentioned above and we are having great success in resolving PTSD so they can regain their lives.

Dr Miller, founder of the program believes that you need to teach a person suffering from trauma-induced addictive behaviors to count to 12 before s/he can successfully do the 12- Step program.

By focusing on the underlying issue where rage, depression, and addictive behaviors are embedded, we have a greater response and higher rates of success.

Our clients leave our program fully restored, filled with hope and eager to start living.

SoundHeals Holistic Health

The trauma from brain injuries, surgeries and even emotional upheaval is stored (sometimes for years!) as restrictions in the body's fascial web. This connective tissue web is responsible for allowing your organs, nerves and blood vessels to move and glide, but when there are restrictions in the web, these structures can’t move or function well. This causes pain, brain dysfunction like changes in hearing, vision, taste and smell, memory loss, etc. Over time, untreated restrictions domino through the body, creating problems in the digestive, eliminative, circulatory, hormonal, muscular, reproductive and nervous systems. All the skills I employ to help you are based on listening to what your body is telling us; this work is very effective, because we do exactly as your body is asking! I use a holistic combination of neural, vascular and visceral manipulation, craniosacral therapy, energy work and sound healing to find restrictions and help release them with gentle and precise touch.

South Valley Physical Therapy

South Valley Physical Therapy, PC, was established in 1982 as the first free-standing outpatient neurologic physical therapy practice in the Denver Metro area. In addition to skills in musculoskeletal rehabilitation, all staff have post graduate training in evaluation and treatment of vestibular disorders, balance training, and treatment of mild to moderate traumatic brain injury. Staff members participate in education for Regis University and University of Colorado Physical Therapy Programs, as well as professional presentations across the country.

We collaborate with all involved health professionals, vocational support and legal teams to ensure clients' symptoms, strengths and deficits are fully addressed. Our treatment approaches are informed by the most current research available. Although in clinic we use measurement tools for recordable, reproducible performance assessments, we design accessible low-tech home programs to encourage independent and consistent practice. Consistency and repetition are imperative for effective brain adaptation.

Southwest Center for Independence

Southwest Center for Independence supports independent living by and for people with disabilities, and facilitates change within the community for the inclusion of all people. We envision a world where all people with disabilities are valued friends and neighbors, receiving the supports they need to lead the lives they desire, defining their own quality of life and contributing back to the community.

Advocacy: Through systems advocacy, we educate our community on behalf of people with disabilities not only to change society’s attitudes but also to improve physical access to different facilities, such as housing, healthcare and transportation. In addition, through individual advocacy, we train people to take charge of life choices and overcome situations that reduce the potential for independence.
Information and Referral: We connect people with local, regional and national agencies that may give them the support they need.
Peer Support: We match people with similar disabilities who also share similar interests and goals with one another and provide the meeting space so that they can begin to build a supportive relationship and avoid isolation, a common problem among people who have disabilities and that often leads to depression, decreased self-esteem and hopelessness.
Independent Living Skills Training: Upon request, we provide training and problem solving to help people be more independent in different life areas.
Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers: Program provides rental assistance to 75 low-income people/families with disabilities.Under the Federal Section 8 program, funded by the Department of Housing & Urban Development, we provide a rental subsidy to people with disabilities who meet the HUD income requirements. We provide more than clerical support

Spirit Point Acupuncture

I am a licensed and nationally certified acupuncturist who is also trained in Craniosacral Therapy and the John Barnes Approach to Myofascial Release. I am also trained in AMMA Therapy (Asian bodywork) and am an instructor of this technique. I am a licensed massage therapist as well, and have taught massage therapy and bodywork at the New York College of Health Professions, RainStar University, and Chandler-Gilbert Community College in Arizona.
I have been involved in alternative medicine for over 12 years and prior to that worked at Winthrop-University Hospital on Long Island, where I was part of the editorial team at an international medical journal. While living in NY, I also worked at a physical therapist's office and treated survivors of the 9/11 attacks in addition to patients who had been in serious car accidents and who had sustained head injuries. I went on to study further with John Barnes in his style of gentle Myofascial Release. I have seen great results with this work and have helped patients gain relief from headaches and vertigo. I have also worked extensively with TMJ dysfunction caused by head trauma.
With the integration of acupuncture, cranial work, and the John Barnes style of Myofascial Release, I have been able to offer relief to patients dealing with the after effects of head trauma, from chronic pain to poor concentration, stress, anxiety and depression.

St. Mary’s Hospital Inpatient & Outpatient Rehab Services

St Mary’s hospital offers acute inpatient rehabilitation as well as outpatient services. Our goal is to provide first class service to our patients and family. We bring a caring approach to our patients; our success rate of getting patients back to their homes without getting admitted again is above the national average in our acute inpatient rehabilitation unit.

In our acute rehabilitation unit the patient will receive 3 hours of interdisciplinary service by at least two therapies (PT,OT and Speech). In our unit we offer a multidisciplinary team approach with pharmacy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nursing, nutrition, psychology, physiatry and discharge planning. This kind of approach allows us success with treating deficits caused by brain injuries, strokes, neurological cases, orthopedic injuries and surgeries and complex medical conditions.

Following an injury or illness, the individual patient needs are evaluated and a treatment plan is established. The team of therapists works closely with physicians and nurses, optimizing the patient's treatment and recovery. The program has full access to whirlpools and gym equipment. Patients are seen seven days a week and family participation is welcome. The goal is to maximize independence in all aspects of daily life. Community outings help patients make the transition back into their normal routines.

St Mary’s using the latest in physical therapy equipment, including treadmills, exercise bikes, and upper body bikes, the physical rehabilitation program is designed to improve the patient's balance, coordination, strength, and range of motion. Patients find pain relief and regained independence. Our Occupational Therapy offers evaluation and treatment of out-patients with neurological impairment, upper extremity dysfunction, or physical disease process affecting the ability to perform daily living skills. Occupational therapists provide compensatory strategies and recommend adaptive equipment and home modifications when necessary for patients to safely regain independence. The speech language pathology team at St. Mary's Life Center evaluates and provides treatment to adults with speech, language, fluency, voice, oral motor, and swallowing difficulties associated with illness, injury, and developmental impairments.

Start Your Recovery

StartYourRecovery.org provides helpful information for people who are dealing with substance use issues — and their family members, friends, and co-workers, too. We know that there is no one-size-fits-all solution to the challenges faced by those who misuse alcohol, prescription or illegal drugs, or other substances, and we aim to break through the clutter to help people at any stage of recovery. Our goal is to offer people who are dealing with substance use issues a single source of reputable, objective information about signs, symptoms, conditions, treatment options, and resources — presented in a user-friendly format and in language that’s easy to understand. First we asked: “Why doesn’t someone offer access to these resources in one place?” Then we asked: “Why don’t we?” To do it, we bring together leading clinicians and experts in substance use prevention treatment and recovery from nonprofit, academic, and government institutions. Reingold — a leader in creating outreach campaigns that promote mental health awareness and help-seeking — works with these experts to assemble, validate, and present the best information available for people dealing with substance use issues.

Summit Movement Center

You can use the movement of your body to change the way your brain and nervous system work! Your brain’s main function is to organize action by sending and receiving signals to the body. In this way, your brain is in control of your movement, feelings, and thoughts. Since signals travel both ways, movement of the body can also affect the way your brain works.

By moving slowly and gently while you focus on your movement, I can help you reconnect and recover from a brain injury or stroke. This work can also boost performance, increase mobility, and improve balance.

Based on the work of physicist Moshe Feldenkrais and children’s movement expert Anat Baniel, NeuroMovement is a cutting-edge scientifically based method that uses slow, gentle, unusual movement to wake up your brain, increase the nervous system connections, and improve the way you function.

Both individual and class lessons are available. In classes, I give you directions that explore a unique functional movement, such as rolling over or coming to standing. In individual lessons, I move you to gently explore a function that helps your brain to distinguish movements from each other, providing new information your brain can use to create millions of neurologic connections.

The work is gentle, non-invasive, and done within your range of comfort. The movement of your body is the language of the nervous system. We can use it to harness the incredible power of your brain to alleviate pain, increase vitality and improve your life.
