You can use the movement of your body to change the way your brain and nervous system work! Your brain’s main function is to organize action by sending and receiving signals to the body. In this way, your brain is in control of your movement, feelings, and thoughts. Since signals travel both ways, movement of the body can also affect the way your brain works.
By moving slowly and gently while you focus on your movement, I can help you reconnect and recover from a brain injury or stroke. This work can also boost performance, increase mobility, and improve balance.
Based on the work of physicist Moshe Feldenkrais and children’s movement expert Anat Baniel, NeuroMovement is a cutting-edge scientifically based method that uses slow, gentle, unusual movement to wake up your brain, increase the nervous system connections, and improve the way you function.
Both individual and class lessons are available. In classes, I give you directions that explore a unique functional movement, such as rolling over or coming to standing. In individual lessons, I move you to gently explore a function that helps your brain to distinguish movements from each other, providing new information your brain can use to create millions of neurologic connections.
The work is gentle, non-invasive, and done within your range of comfort. The movement of your body is the language of the nervous system. We can use it to harness the incredible power of your brain to alleviate pain, increase vitality and improve your life.
