Neuro-Acupuncture is a contemporary acupuncture technique which integrates classical Chinese needling with neuroscience. It is referred to as scalp acupuncture because specific areas of the scalp are needled to stimulate the underlying brain cells.
Neuro-Acupuncture is extremely safe and effective. It requires very few needles and effects are often seen immediately. Most commonly used for post-stroke recovery, Neuro-Acupuncture in fact treats many other neurological problems: Post-Concussion Syndrome, Migraine, Traumatic Brain injury, Parkinson's Disease, Bell's Palsy, Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, PTSD, Autism, phantom pain, anxiety, Vertigo, nerve pain, paralysis.
Neuro-Acupuncture is based on the latest scientific understanding of brain area functioning and neuroplascity. By stimulating areas associated with motor, sensory or other functional impairment, brain cells are induced to make new connections and surrounding neurons are recruited to reform circuitry and restore the lost abilities.

I am an occupational therapist working in an outpatient clinic in Gunnison County. We (myself and two other OTs) treat patients with orthopedic and mTBI injuries in hopes to helping people return to daily occupations as independently as possible. I am expanding my practice with hopes of preventing and treating youth and adult concussions within our county. We live in a county with many high impact sports injuries spanning from youth hockey to adult mountain biking/downhilling. Frequently we encounter an orthopedic injury that has also sustained a concussion. My preferred method of practicing involves a combination of psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral techniques. This means, I analyze your patterns of behaviors in order for you to better understand your problems. Then, I guide you towards change with practical steps and skills. The four most unique aspects of my practice are: my approach to understanding and breaching cultural differences; my systemic view of couples and families to understand complex issues; my bilingual Spanish skills; and my role as a Child & Family Investigator in providing court-ordered custody evaluations for divorce cases.
