Denver Vision Therapy, P.C.

At Denver Vision Therapy, we understand the many issues that arise after a brain injury. Vision processing occurs in every area of the brain, so anytime an injury occurs to the brain it is highly likely that vision will be involved.

At Denver Vision Therapy we evaluate the unique vision problems of each patient and create a plan for treatment that may include glasses, contacts and/or vision therapy. Vision Therapy is like physical therapy for the eyes and visual system. We use a program of activities that include in-office visits and home based activities to rehabilitate the visual system, and we do so with caring and compassion.

Highline Center for Vision and Preformance

We evaluate and treat the visual sequelae of brain injury secondary to trauma, stroke, etc. We use lenses and prisms through vision therapy to improve the function of the eyes and the brain. Vision is learned. After an accident it often needs to be relearned or "rewired".

Our goal is to help you achieve your goal. Often that is to read again, to drive again, to work and play again. Vision is integral to our daily activities. Visual symptoms such as blurred vision, double vision, visual confusion, headaches, and eye strain and just a few of the very common symptoms after a brain injury. We have five certified vision therapists who work with three eye doctors.

Highline Vision Center

Comprehensive eye exams are important annually, even if you don’t feel like you have a vision problem. In addition to eye health, we gain a detailed look at how your entire visual system is functioning. Your “binocular vision system” includes eye tracking, focusing, eye teaming, and depth perception. These skills are just as important as how clearly you see, and are crucial in our visually demanding world. They are especially important in school and learning performance. As you can see, a comprehensive eye examination gives us a picture of total eye health and visual performance that helps you maintain clear and comfortable vision for a lifetime.

Impact Vision Therapy

Impact Vision Therapy is a practice with two offices serving the Colorado Springs and South Denver areas. We treat patients with vision related learning problems, such as tracking, ADD/ADHD, and double vision, as well as trauma related vision problems, working with patients of all ages to retrain their brain. The brain plays an integral part in vision and how information is processed. Often, trauma and other brain injuries can affect the way we are accustomed to seeing and how we live our lives. This could mean light sensitivity, headaches, trouble processing information, double vision, nausea, and more. Impact Vision Therapy offers training exercises to enhance the recovery of brain function by stimulating and strengthening visual connections in the brain. Our vision therapists work with the doctor to develop an individualized in-office therapy regime which is supported by at home activities.

Niwot Eyecare & Vision Therapy

I am a neuro-optometrist and I specialize in treating patients with traumatic brain injury and other acquired brain injuries. I am residency trained in neuro-optometric vision rehabilitation and have worked in military and civilian hospitals for the past 10 years. I have published numerous journal articles in this area and have published a book titled “Neurovision Rehabilitation Guide” that is widely used by optometrists and therapists to treat TBI patients with visual dysfunction.

I was the first neuro optometrist in the US military. I have treated thousands of patients and have been able to help them regain visual function so that they can regain independence and return to driving, school, work and sports. My approach to patient care is one of compassionate and active listening. I find that this in addition to specialized testing and treatment allows for the most healing. I am often able to help patients who have not gotten better with other treatment.

Behavioral optometry is a term applied to those O.D.’s who take the time to assess a person’s visual needs in all areas: work, school, sports, hobbies, etc. during a vision evaluation. Dr. Hutchins works directly with the patient, and does not use a technician for information gathering, as she believes that even routine testing contributes to a better understanding of a client’s needs.

Pine Creek Vision Clinic

Pine Creek Vision Clinic provides expertise in the assessment and treatment of visual disturbances associated with head trauma and traumatic brain injury. Our doctors provide unique and undivided attention to each patient to determine a treatment plan based on your specific visual needs.

After neurological insult, the brain does not always process information as it previously did. When the eyes are having difficulty processing, we can experience difficulty with balance, anxiety, heightened sensitivities to light, memory issues, double vision, headaches and more. Neuro-optometric rehabilitation seeks to find where the issues in processing occur, and then employs treatment strategies to re-train the brain so we can accurately understand where our bodies are in space and how the space around us relates to the body.

Revive Treatment Centers

I'm reaching out to send some info about our clinic, as we are seeing consistently profound functional results in mTBI / PCS / Concussion / Stroke.

We are a multidisciplinary, outpatient clinic specializing in mTBI/Concussion/Post concussive Syndrome and Stroke. Our approach at Revive is multidisciplinary and holistic, as we focus on the 3 crucial components to recovery: 1.) neurological, 2.) metabolic, and 3.) psychiatric.

We utilize research-based diagnostics to assess function of visual systems, vestibular systems, and neurocognitive / psychiatric conditions in order to see exactly which areas of the nervous system are underperforming. Our findings in these diagnostics and neurological examinations inform our targeted therapeutic programs, so each individual patient receives a specific, customized treatment plan just for them. We understand that healing the body's metabolic dysfunction (i.e. gut biome, hormonal imbalances, etc.) and repairing damage caused by prescription medications, diet, and lifestyle must happen in order for any neurological changes to actually stick. We will run comprehensive blood tests to get to the root of the metabolic dysfunction, and spend lots of time with each patient working through their mindset and overall psychiatric issues that come with a brain injury.

Some of the therapy modalities we offer: - repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) - hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) - eye therapy - sensory motor integration - stimulation of cranial nerves - vagus nerve stimulation - rotational therapy (GyroStim) - cold laser therapy - functional movement therapy - breathing, mindfulness, meditation - ketamine assisted psychotherapy - NAD+ infusions - vitamin, mineral, amino acid IV infusions - exosomes - stem cell therapy - customized nutrition plan

You can read our reviews online (Google, Facebook, etc.) and get a feel for the level of caring and expertise that our entire team offers.

Thomas Politzer O.D., FCOVD, FAAO

Nearly 12 million Americans have vision loss preventing them from seeing properly. Although there are many visual problems that arise from brain injury and stroke, three are more devastating and impairing than the rest. These are visual field loss, intractable double vision, and visual/balance disorders. Although the loss of vision is a very significant problem, there is often help available at one of Dr. Politzer's Clinics. Following his protocol, people with a visual impairment are able to resume many of their daily activities, drive, and maintain their independence as a result of low vision care. Dr. Politzer staffs and runs the vision clinics at Craig Hospital, Spalding Hospital, Mapleton, Northern Colorado Rehab Hospital, CNI, and Swedish.
