St Mary’s hospital offers acute inpatient rehabilitation as well as outpatient services. Our goal is to provide first class service to our patients and family. We bring a caring approach to our patients; our success rate of getting patients back to their homes without getting admitted again is above the national average in our acute inpatient rehabilitation unit.
In our acute rehabilitation unit the patient will receive 3 hours of interdisciplinary service by at least two therapies (PT,OT and Speech). In our unit we offer a multidisciplinary team approach with pharmacy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nursing, nutrition, psychology, physiatry and discharge planning. This kind of approach allows us success with treating deficits caused by brain injuries, strokes, neurological cases, orthopedic injuries and surgeries and complex medical conditions.
Following an injury or illness, the individual patient needs are evaluated and a treatment plan is established. The team of therapists works closely with physicians and nurses, optimizing the patient's treatment and recovery. The program has full access to whirlpools and gym equipment. Patients are seen seven days a week and family participation is welcome. The goal is to maximize independence in all aspects of daily life. Community outings help patients make the transition back into their normal routines.
St Mary’s using the latest in physical therapy equipment, including treadmills, exercise bikes, and upper body bikes, the physical rehabilitation program is designed to improve the patient's balance, coordination, strength, and range of motion. Patients find pain relief and regained independence. Our Occupational Therapy offers evaluation and treatment of out-patients with neurological impairment, upper extremity dysfunction, or physical disease process affecting the ability to perform daily living skills. Occupational therapists provide compensatory strategies and recommend adaptive equipment and home modifications when necessary for patients to safely regain independence. The speech language pathology team at St. Mary's Life Center evaluates and provides treatment to adults with speech, language, fluency, voice, oral motor, and swallowing difficulties associated with illness, injury, and developmental impairments.
