Hope For The Challenged Brain

A new Lakewood service, Hope For the Challenged Brain, combines state-of-the-art brain wave evaluation and training for those in our community experiencing trauma, early dementia and other age-related brain disorders, along with psychological support for their families and caregivers. We address brain dysregulations both large and small at their causative root using neurofeedback – - a non-invasive, non-drug, no side-effect, gentle yet effective training process for the brain. What makes our services unique is we use the only real-time digital EEG available (four times more sensitive than traditional clinical EEGs) to detect normally hidden brain wave patterns associated with TBI and early signs of dementia . Once identified, these injuries are addressed using the same patented technology for training, allowing many of the symptoms associated with head trauma to be remediated. Symptom management and improvement is achieved using this combination of cutting edge, high tech neurofeedback and psychotherapy. We provide a no charge consultation for individuals or families to come in and see our facility and ask as many questions as they like. Additional Contact: Dr. Glenda K. Amazing Brains

Amazing Brains are Brain Performance clinics with locations in Avon, Colorado and Frisco, Colorado. We use Neurostimulation and other Neuromodulation techniques ("Brain Training") to help rewire the brain. Brain training is fun, pain-free, natural, and works well in conjunction with other interventions. Like exercise for the brain, brain training teaches you how to transform your own brainwave activity. And when brain patterns change, long-lasting emotional and behavior changes follow. We work with people who have had strokes, concussions, and other traumatic brain injuries.

Services also available in Eagle County.

South Pointe Chiropractic

South Point Chiropractic has been serving Boulder County and nearby areas as a leading provider of chiropractic and physical rehab treatments since 2018. Our expert team consists of passionate local providers and physical therapists that are committed to helping you reduce pain and improve the quality of your life. South Pointe Chiropractic is locally located close to the beautiful Coal Creek Trail, which is just outside the window of many of our treatment rooms. Our office is a short drive from all of the closest surrounding areas of Broomfield, Westminster, Erie, Longmont, Louisville, Boulder and the entire front range area. Chiropractic care is often assumed to mean only spinal manipulations. At South Pointe Chiropractic, our local chiropractors are breaking down patients perceptions of chiropractic care, through helping our patients achieve their functional movement goals. Chiropractors use a broad spectrum of treatments and methodologies which provide an excellent source of pain relief for patients with all kinds of musculoskeletal related pain, and can be especially helping in treating Traumatic Brain Injuries. When suffering from a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), returning to live life as you had before is an extremely challenging task. With this type of injury, neuromuscular re-education is essential to return the normal brain to body connection. Trauma to the brain often times accompanied by inflammation and swelling leads to a loss of neuromuscular control. At South Pointe Chiropractic we use neuromuscular re-education / rehabilitation to restore the correct "firing pattern" of the muscle and also increase proper muscle activation. Some methods that are used include Functional Dry Needling with electric stimulation combined with strengthening exercises. Some of the most successful methodologies to recreate proper movement patterns include therapeutic exercises, manual techniques, and PNF training. Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) training is an essential tool in the TBI recovery process when seeking chiropractic care. This technique is an advanced form of flexibility training which involves both stretching and contracting the muscle group in question. Combined with other individualized rehabilitation methods this can be an excellent tool. South Pointe Chiropractic proudly serves our Colorado community of TBI survivors and welcomes the challenges that come with it.

Southwest Center for Independence

Southwest Center for Independence supports independent living by and for people with disabilities, and facilitates change within the community for the inclusion of all people. We envision a world where all people with disabilities are valued friends and neighbors, receiving the supports they need to lead the lives they desire, defining their own quality of life and contributing back to the community.

Advocacy: Through systems advocacy, we educate our community on behalf of people with disabilities not only to change society’s attitudes but also to improve physical access to different facilities, such as housing, healthcare and transportation. In addition, through individual advocacy, we train people to take charge of life choices and overcome situations that reduce the potential for independence.
Information and Referral: We connect people with local, regional and national agencies that may give them the support they need.
Peer Support: We match people with similar disabilities who also share similar interests and goals with one another and provide the meeting space so that they can begin to build a supportive relationship and avoid isolation, a common problem among people who have disabilities and that often leads to depression, decreased self-esteem and hopelessness.
Independent Living Skills Training: Upon request, we provide training and problem solving to help people be more independent in different life areas.

Joy Om

I offer Neuroptimal neurofeedback brain training which is a non-linear, non-invasive dynamical system which reflects the brain's activity in real time allowing the brain to 'see' itself and relax. This releases energy for internal healing, balancing and self-regulation. The client then receives therapeutic cranio-sacral balancing which further promotes integration of the nervous system and gentle structural and energetic alignment. The client will most often feel more grounded, balanced and energized; some have reported more clarity of thought processing and even vision as well as improvement in gait and core balance.

Owl Education Group

Dysexecutive Syndrome, or deficiencies in Executive Functioning Skills, are the invisible disability, often leaving children and adolescents frustrated, unmotivated, and without hope. As an Executive Functioning Coach, I work with children and adolescents on developing skills to become effective learners and provide tools for independently managing working memory, reasoning, task flexibility, problem solving, emotional/behavioral regulation, planning and execution. We don't use check lists and we don't organize your binders; clients are given intake testing in order to drive an individualized, goal based program with frequent progress monitoring. Students are observed in their school and home setting. Training occurs in an office setting, following mastery, skills are then generalized to the school and home, gradually leading to the independent execution of skills. The aim of Executive Functioning Coaching is to empower the client by providing them internalized competency in problem solving. In addition, coaching provides tools to families and school staff, in order to develop a partnership for success across settings.

Fitness to Drive Program

Driving is an essential skill for independence in today's society. Returning to drive following injury or problems resulting from disease or surgery, often requires the specialized assistance from Certified driving rehabilitation professionals who are trained to evaluate and rehabilitate these particular needs.

We offer Occupational Therapy evaluation of pre-driving skills which includes strength, sensation, range of motion, coordination, muscle tone, proprioceptive and kinesthetic movements, visual perceptual skills, vision screening, reaction time and reflexes. We help individuals who may need adaptive equipment (hand controls, left accelerator, steering devices, mirrors, secondary controls).

The full evaluations take approximately 3 hours and can be done in individualized segments if needed. This information is compiled and used to develop a written plan, which may include recommendations for:
- Driver training
- Rehabilitation
- Driving with restrictions
- No return to driving

Information and recommendations will be provided to the referring physician for final decision making about driving.

Impact Vision Therapy is a practice with two offices serving the Colorado Springs and South Denver areas. We treat patients with vision related learning problems, such as tracking, ADD/ADHD, and double vision, as well as trauma related vision problems, working with patients of all ages to retrain their brain. This could mean light sensitivity, headaches, trouble processing information, double vision, nausea, and more. Impact Vision Therapy offers training exercises to enhance the recovery of brain function by stimulating and strengthening visual connections in the brain. Our vision therapists work with the doctor to develop an individualized in-office therapy regime which is supported by at home activities.
